A residential area of luxury, privacy and comfort
The background of La Finca, Madrid
LGC is a large construction project in the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón, northwest of Madrid in Spain. This project consists of the development of an entire residential area that combines the most exclusive privacy and security, and which offers luxurious villas, apartments, golf club and various amenities.
The La Finca Sky Villas is the most exclusive development within the project and it offers a new and unique concept of both garden and privacy, view and pool as well as the benefits of living in a community. The La Finca Garden Residencies on the other hand consists of a variety of smaller housing types, 1-3 rooms, organized in multi-family blocks and immersed in an environment dominated by nature.
SABER MÁS SOBRE LA FINCA GARDENThe importance of a good indoor climate in our homes
In modern society, we spend nearly all of our time inside controlled environments, indoor spaces separated from the outdoors’ natural variations. This is sometimes good, considering the possible weather alterations, but it requires that the indoor environments offer a good indoor climate in order to nurture our needs as human beings. Further, we devote almost 30 years of our lives to sleep, and most often we sleep in our own bedrooms.
Sleep researchers have for years known a lot about indoor temperature and have recommended 19°C and 21°C in bedrooms. It has been found that normal to lower temperatures are beneficial for good sleep quality. In fact, it has been evident that a person’s overall performance can increase by as much as 20% after a good night’s sleep. Knowing this, and considering La Finca’s roughly 145 homes, these residential buildings have to care for quite some hours of rest and recouperation.

The climate control project of both the villas and the apartments aimed to provide innovative and highly efficient installations. As the living spaces in themselves are something out of the ordinary, the indoor climate solution had to be different from any common installation too. User comfort was of top priority which did not come as a surprise to us at Swegon.
We actively participated in the design and development of the indoor climate project, and held a role which was crucial to the success of the final result. In line with our recommendations, the villas and apartments are now provided with two different kinds of chillers and reversible heat-pumps for optimal thermal comfort.
Why swegon?
An innovative approach to ensure thermal comfort
In regards to La Finca’s 48 single family villas, a total of ten Tetris W HPW units were selected. They were provided with an elaborate control system which enables them to produce simultaneous cooling and heating, alternatively to either evaporate or condense against geothermal wells. This solution is new among residential installations but we firmly believe this is an optimal way to ensure a consistently comfortable indoor climate in the villas.
The ability to provide heat and cold at the same time is key as all villas may have different requirements throughout the day and year. When the interior garden, pictured in the image, is in the bright sun, cooling is most definitely needed. However, when the day passes by, other homes get in the sun, and heating might be necessary for this indoor environment to still be a comfortable living area.
A slightly different solution for cooling and heating
The solution for the 96 apartments within the La Finca community differs somewhat from what was provided for the villas. In this case a 2-pipe installation of two Tetris W Rev HP LN units have been completed. These units will care for both cooling and heating production for the entire scope of apartments. Again, this is an innovative approach which we believe will suit these smaller homes just perfectly. The choice of LN versions ensure low noise disturbance, which is critical both in regards to the comfort of the tenant but also to the surrounding neighbourhood and nature.
